Receptive: understanding what others say
Expressive: using words or gestures to communicate
Starts with early babbling & progresses to forming complex sentences.
_______
In this module, we discuss early development of language & communication skills.
Scroll through for a brief overview and guidance to help your young child begin this lifelong journey and set the foundation for years of communication growth!
A child's brain is able to gain language skills best from birth to three years old. After this timeframe, they can still gain their language skills, however, it will be more challenging. All children develop at different speeds, but they generally follow a similar order of milestones.
Using the age-appropriate strategies and activities in the videos provided can help stimulate language and communication development in your baby.
Receptive= receiving information
Expressive= expressing information
When a child is raised bilingual/multilingual, it does not inhibit a child's ability to learn language skills; research has shown it may even improve comprehension skills!
Limiting screen time allows babies and children more face-to-face interactions with people, encouraging communication and language stimulation.
